LʼIsle-sur-la-Sorgue is a small Provençal town crossed by the Sorgue, whose branches and waterwheels shape the urban landscape. The quays, footbridges and narrow streets of the centre are pleasant to explore on foot. The town is also renowned for its antique dealers and markets, which attract fans of flea-market finds and antiques. Its atmosphere suits a getaway combining leisurely walks, local heritage and trips into the Vaucluse countryside.

The Collégiale Notre-Dame des Anges, notable for its Baroque decoration, is in the historic centre. La Filaventure, a museum devoted to the history of the Brun de Vian-Tiran textile mill, offers an insight into a local craft tradition. L’Isle-sur-la-Sorgue – Fontaine-de-Vaucluse railway station is 2.5 km away. By car, you can visit nearby villages, including Saumane-de-Vaucluse and its château, or continue to Fontaine-de-Vaucluse, where the Sorgue rises at the foot of a cliff. The region’s roads also make it easy to explore the Luberon.

In spring and autumn, temperatures are often pleasant for exploring markets, villages and country trails. Summer brings hotter weather and more visitors; it’s best to plan visits for the morning and spend the hottest hours taking a break in the shade or by the pool. In June and July, you can combine a day exploring the town with a trip to the Vaucluse lavender fields. Cyclists and hikers will also find routes through landscapes that range from plains to hills.
