Gîte de charme

Le Gîte de charme offers two one-bedroom houses, both with a private bathroom, air conditioning, an equipped kitchen and a terrace overlooking the garden. They also have a dishwasher, a flat-screen TV, a barbecue and a coffee machine. Both units have a living area separate from the bedroom, so you can enjoy a home-like layout during your stay.

The 55 m² house is the larger of the two and has a sofa bed in the living room, in addition to the bedroom’s large double bed. The 35 m² house has a more compact layout with a double bed. The kitchens include a refrigerator, an oven, a microwave, a hob and a kettle. The two accommodation units have the same name; their size and sleeping arrangements set them apart.

Le Gîte de charme has a garden with outdoor furniture, a sun terrace and a picnic area. You can prepare meals in the equipped kitchen, then enjoy them on the terrace or in the outdoor dining area. A barbecue is available, as are a coffee machine and a kettle in the accommodation units. Free private parking is available, and Wi-Fi can be accessed throughout the gîte.

Activities on site include table tennis, badminton and outdoor games for children. Bicycles are available to borrow for exploring the surrounding area; walking, hiking, horse riding and fishing are also available nearby. There is a playground in the garden. The houses are air-conditioned and have a private entrance, a flat-screen TV with satellite channels and a private bathroom. Bed linen, towels and a hairdryer are provided.

Explore Arles’s old town, with its narrow lanes, Provençal squares and Roman remains. The gîte is in the Gimeaux area, away from the busiest streets, and has a garden where you can dine outdoors. The city draws history and architecture enthusiasts as well as travellers curious about the landscapes of the Camargue and the light that inspired Van Gogh.

Les Arènes d'Arles, a Roman amphitheatre still used for events, is 5 km away. The Musée de l'Arles antique displays archaeological discoveries from the region, while Hortus has a Roman-inspired garden near the museum. The old town is also home to the ancient theatre, listed monuments and the Musée Réattu, devoted in particular to painting and photography. Arles railway station is around 5 km away; a car makes it easier to travel between Gimeaux, the centre and the surrounding landscapes. Nîmes-Alès-Camargue-Cévennes Airport is 14 km away.

Spring and autumn are good seasons for walks around the centre and trips to the Camargue, with temperatures often milder than in midsummer. In summer, plan visits to the ancient sites early in the day, then take a break in the shade or in the garden. You can combine a day exploring Arles’s ancient heritage with an outing among the marshes and lagoons of the Camargue Regional Natural Park. Photography enthusiasts can also follow the places associated with Van Gogh before returning to the quiet of Gimeaux.
