Its old town’s narrow streets, Provençal façades and shady squares create a lively atmosphere shaped by markets and café terraces. The town suits travellers looking to combine heritage, walks and the discovery of Provençal landscapes without staying in a large city.

The old town is easy to explore on foot: the Collégiale Saint-Martin and Porte de l’Aure bear witness to the town’s history, while the Musée Estrine displays collections related to art and Vincent van Gogh. Les Antiques and the Glanum triumphal arch recall the Roman presence in the region; the Glanum archaeological site can be visited to the south of the town. Tarascon, 13 km away, has a railway station. Nîmes-Alès-Camargue-Cévennes Airport is 32 km away; a car makes it easier to explore the villages and landscapes of the Alpilles.
