For your first day, you could spend the morning in Le Panier and at the Mucem, then follow the quays towards the Old Port. Plage des Catalans is 2.3 km away for a break by the sea. Marseille is worth visiting all year round: spring and autumn are good for city walks, while in summer it is best to plan outdoor visits early in the day. The metro and walking make it easy to limit car journeys in this part of the city.
