The Promenade des Anglais runs along the shore and is a good place to walk with views across the bay. Cours Saleya hosts a market known for its flowers and local produce. Place Masséna, with its red façades and arcades, marks the transition between Nice Old Town and the gardens in the centre. Masséna tram stop is 250 m away; Nice-Ville train station is 1.2 km away. Castle Hill, 700 m away, has walking trails and viewpoints over the rooftops and port. The Charles Nègre Photography Museum hosts exhibitions devoted to photography.

The Mediterranean climate makes Nice pleasant all year round: summers are sunny and busy, while spring and autumn are well suited to walks in the city and along the coast. A day can begin at the Cours Saleya market, continue with a visit to the lanes and churches of the old town, and end on the beach or in Albert I Garden. In winter, the terraces and museums are still a good way to discover the city between walks by the water.
