The Roman remains of Glanum and the Antiques site offer a glimpse into the region's ancient history. Les Baux-de-Provence, a hilltop medieval village with wide-ranging views across the Alpilles, is 10.5 km away. Avignon TGV station is 21 km away; Nîmes-Alès-Camargue-Cévennes Airport is 32 km away. A car is useful for exploring the villages and landscapes beyond Saint-Rémy.

Spring and autumn are well suited to walks in the Alpilles, when temperatures are often milder than in the height of summer. In summer, plan outdoor walks for the morning or late afternoon and leave time for the pool. You can start the day in the village's lanes and museums, then continue to Glanum or the Alpilles trails. In June and July, the lavender season colours several Provençal landscapes; the grape harvest and seasonal markets also offer a glimpse of local produce in late summer and autumn.
