Lou Candelou

Lou Candelou offers three double rooms, a three-bedroom house and a studio with mountain views. The double rooms are 13 m² and each sleeps two people; two have distinctive names, Soleil and Lilas, while the Provence room has a bath. All have a private bathroom, a balcony and access to a kitchen. Views vary between the garden, mountains, sea and town, depending on the room.

The 80 m² house sleeps up to six people in three bedrooms and has a living room, three bathrooms, a fitted kitchen and a terrace. The 22 m² studio, for two people, stands out for its soundproofing, balcony with garden and mountain views, and sofa bed. The house and studio each have a flat-screen TV. Kitchen facilities include a fridge, hob and microwave.

Lou Candelou’s outdoor spaces include a garden, a sun terrace, a balcony and an outdoor dining area. Barbecue facilities are also available. Indoors, a shared lounge with a TV offers a communal place to relax. The rooms have private bathrooms, with either a shower or a bath depending on the accommodation. Views look out over the garden, mountains or surrounding area.

Kitchen facilities include a fridge, hob, microwave, toaster, electric kettle and coffee machine. Free Wi-Fi is available, and free public parking is nearby. Check-in is between 17:00 and 19:30; you must let the property know your arrival time in advance. Check-out is available until 12:00. Magagnosc is a Provençal village within the commune of Grasse, in the hills of the Alpes-Maritimes hinterland. The area suits travellers who want to explore hilltop villages and the perfumeries of Grasse while staying outside its lively centre. The lanes and squares of the old town give a visit a different pace from that of the seaside resorts.

Perfumery heritage is one reason to explore Grasse: the International Perfume Museum presents the history and techniques associated with the industry, while Fragonard Perfume Factory offers another introduction to this world. Notre-Dame-du-Puy Cathedral and the old town complete the walk. From Magagnosc, Châteauneuf-Grasse and Opio offer the chance to discover other villages in the hinterland. Grasse railway station is 3.8 km away; a car makes it easier to travel between the villages and reach the coast. Nice Côte d’Azur Airport is 20 km away.

In spring and autumn, mild temperatures are well suited to walks and outings in the hills. In summer, you can spend a day in Grasse before heading to the busier, livelier coast. A museum visit can be combined with lunch in the historic centre, followed by a walk through the lanes. In winter, the climate on the French Riviera is generally milder than in the neighbouring mountain ranges; sunny days are ideal for excursions between Grasse and nearby villages.
