Ferries from the harbour provide connections to Saint-Tropez; the ferry terminal is 3.4 km away. Pointe des Sardinaux offers a different coastal landscape, with coves and rocks. For land travel, Fréjus railway station is 12 km away; a car makes it easier to explore the villages and beaches around the gulf.

In summer, the coastline is very busy and the heat makes it worth planning visits for early morning or late afternoon. A day could start with a swim at La Nartelle, continue with a visit to Sainte-Maxime market and end at the harbour at sunset. In spring and September, temperatures are often milder for walking along the coastal path or exploring the surrounding area. Golfers can also spend half a day on the Sainte-Maxime course, while the coves at Les Sardinaux are suited to a break by the water.
