The ôkhra museum, 1.4 km away, presents the history of ochre and its uses. Gordes, with its stone lanes and château, is 7 km away. Marseille Provence Airport is 50 km away; a car makes it easier to visit the villages and sites around the Luberon.

Spring and autumn bring temperatures suited to walks and village visits, while summer is warmer and livelier. In June and July, lavender fields colour several landscapes in Vaucluse; flowering times vary depending on the weather and location. You could start the day with a walk around Roussillon, continue along the Ochre Trail, then drive to Gordes or nearby villages. Wear suitable shoes for the trails and take some water on hot days.
