Chantemerle is a mountain village in the commune of Saint-Chaffrey, in the Guisane valley, within the Serre Chevalier ski area. Trails lead through the landscapes of the Écrins, part of which is protected by the national park. About 6 km away, Briançon is worth visiting for its fortified old town and fortifications, which are listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Briançon railway station connects the valley to the rail network; a car can make trips between villages and mountain sites easier.

In winter, days revolve around skiing, with a break in the village before heading back to the slopes. From late spring to autumn, walking routes and mountain biking take over, with views of the peaks and valley. A day can combine a hike in the national park with a visit to Briançon's heritage sites.
