Hôtel Central

L’Hôtel Central offers seven room categories, from the Small Single Room to double, twin, Superior, Premium, Privilège and family rooms. Room sizes range from 10 to 24 m², and capacity varies by category, with the family room accommodating four people. All rooms have air conditioning and a private bathroom; a flat-screen TV is also included in all of them.

The views and access arrangements distinguish the different categories: some rooms overlook the inner courtyard, the Premium Room opens onto the garden, and the Privilège Room overlooks the city. The Premium and Privilège rooms are accessible by lift. Several other rooms can only be reached by stairs. The family room offers two possible bed configurations, while the Superior Room can accommodate an extra bed.

L’Hôtel Central has several communal spaces for relaxing and dining: a bar, a snack bar and an on-site café. Breakfast can be served in your room; fruit, wine or champagne are also available. The rooms have a kettle or a drinks tray, and the terrace and garden provide outdoor spaces for guests to use.

The reception is open 24 hours a day. Luggage storage, daily housekeeping and a wake-up service are available; the hotel also offers room service and laundry facilities. Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the property. Public parking nearby is chargeable and cannot be reserved; indoor parking spaces, an electric vehicle charging point and spaces accessible to guests with reduced mobility are among the parking options. Accessibility features include a low washbasin, raised toilet and grab rails.

Avignon lies in the Rhône Valley in Provence, behind a largely preserved medieval wall. Rue de la République runs through the old centre from the railway station towards the squares and shopping streets; historic façades, museums and terraces make up the everyday streetscape. The city suits travellers who want to combine heritage visits, urban walks and stops in gardens. The Rhône marks the western edge of the city, while Provençal landscapes begin in the surrounding area.

The Palais des Papes, a vast Gothic residence of the 14th-century popes, is about 550 m from the hotel. Further on, Pont Saint-Bénézet, known for its song, stretches out over the Rhône and offers a walk with views of the river. Avignon-Centre railway station is 300 m away and serves the city centre, while the TGV station is 2.9 km away. Musée Lapidaire and Collection Lambert offer archaeological and contemporary art collections. The city walls accompany much of the way around the old town.

Spring and autumn are pleasant times to walk the streets and visit museums without the summer heat. In summer, Avignon hosts its theatre festival: performances take place in venues and on the streets, and the city centre stays lively into the evening. A day might combine the Palais des Papes, a walk to the bridge and a break in a garden or on a shaded square. To explore further afield, the Rhône’s villages and wine-growing landscapes make for excursions from the city; a car is useful for exploring the region beyond the rail connections.
