Further afield, Fort de Brégançon recalls the defensive history of this stretch of coast; Port-Cros National Park can be explored by sea and offers trails and protected landscapes. The bus station makes it easier to get around the town and surrounding area. A car offers greater freedom for exploring the beaches and villages of the Massif des Maures.

In summer, the coast is lively and the beaches are very busy; set off early for a quieter swim. Spring and early autumn are good times for walks along the coast, with a calmer atmosphere and generally mild temperatures. You could start the day at the market and with a walk by the sea, then take a boat trip to Port-Cros or relax on a different beach. In the evening, the harbour and seafront are pleasant places to stroll.
