La Providence

The Ochre Trail, 14 km away, crosses colourful landscapes shaped by ochre mining; the routes around Roussillon let you see these red and yellow hues in the landscape. The Village des Bories, 18 km away, features rural dry-stone buildings. Fort de Buoux, 8 km away, is an old fortification on a Luberon promontory, with ruins to explore. In Apt itself, the Musée d'Apt and Sainte-Anne Cathedral offer a chance to spend a few hours discovering local heritage. The bus station connects the town with neighbouring communities, while a car makes it easier to explore the villages and natural sites.

Spring and autumn are well suited to walks and outdoor visits, with temperatures generally milder than in summer. In summer, markets and early-morning outings let you enjoy the villages before the hottest part of the day. You can spend a day exploring Apt's centre, having a Provençal lunch, then walking the ochre trails or visiting the Luberon villages. Lavender blooms add colour to some regional landscapes in early summer, while September brings the grape harvest in the Vaucluse vineyards.
