La Villa Martegale sunset

The villa has four bedrooms and can accommodate up to eight guests. They are all part of the same 250 m² house, with a living room, two bathrooms and an equipped kitchen, so the bedrooms cannot be booked separately. The sleeping arrangements comprise two large double beds, one double bed, bunk beds and two single beds. One bathroom has a walk-in shower and a bath.

The living spaces extend out from the bedrooms: the terrace overlooks the sea, while the windows also offer views of the garden and private pool. The house has a dishwasher, oven, fridge and washing machine. The flat-screen TV and seating area complete the indoor spaces. Bed linen and towels are provided for your stay.

The private saltwater pool and garden define the villa’s outdoor spaces. You can relax on the sun terrace, make use of the garden furniture or prepare a meal on the barbecue. Sun loungers, parasols and pool or beach towels are also available. An outdoor dining area lets you eat outside, while a pool cover completes the facilities in this space.

Inside, the kitchen has an oven, hob, dishwasher, fridge, microwave and coffee machine. The living room has a flat-screen TV and DVD player; board games and books, DVDs or music for children are also available. Private parking is free, and Wi-Fi is available throughout the villa. An airport shuttle is available for an additional charge. The accommodation is self-contained, and the upper floors are accessible by stairs only.

Martigues lies between the Mediterranean and the Étang de Berre, amid a landscape of canals, harbours and old neighbourhoods. Nicknamed the “Venice of Provence”, the town can be explored on foot along its quays and bridges, with boats and colourful façades forming part of the scenery. The seafront and nearby beaches attract visitors looking to swim, while the green spaces offer shadier walks.

Martigues’ old town is home to the Musée Ziem, dedicated to art and local history, and the Musée d’histoire de Martigues. They are around 1.9 km and 2 km away. Ferrières Beach is 1.6 km away. The Grand Parc de Figuerolles, with its walking and leisure areas, is another option for an outing. The maritime shuttle stop provides access to local routes on the water; Martigues railway station connects the town to the regional rail network. Marseille-Provence Airport is 11 km away according to local references.

Spring and early autumn are well suited to walks along the canals and visits to museums, with temperatures often milder than on the hottest summer days. In summer, you can alternate swimming with boat trips and breaks in the shade; in the Mediterranean sunshine, remember to take water and suitable sun protection. You could spend a day exploring the old town and then enjoy an afternoon by the coast before returning to the peace of the garden.
