Le Couleau

Le Couleau offers four double rooms, each designed for two people. All have a private bathroom with a shower, a hairdryer, toiletries, bed linen and a flat-screen TV. Wooden flooring and heating complete the shared amenities. Bedding varies by room: some offer a large double bed or two single beds, while others let you choose between two single beds and an extra-large double bed.

The main differences are the floor area and the views. The rooms measure 14, 16, 17 or 22 m². Three overlook the garden and mountains; the fourth, measuring 17 m², has the same essential amenities but no view is specified. The 22 m² room stands out for its seating area, while the 14 m² room is the most compact and has an extra-large double bed.

Le Couleau offers free private parking on site and free Wi-Fi throughout the property. The rooms are non-smoking and have a flat-screen TV; internet access is also listed among the multimedia amenities. For some relaxation, the sauna offers a chance to unwind after a day in the Hautes-Alpes.

Outside, the garden, outdoor furniture and terraces give you somewhere to sit, depending on the weather. A sun terrace adds to these spaces. Châteauroux-les-Alpes lies in the Durance Valley, in a mountainous landscape shaped by the Écrins peaks and scattered villages. The village and its hamlets have a rural atmosphere, with roads following the valley and trails leading up the slopes. It suits travellers who enjoy combining walks, local heritage and outings in the countryside.

Écrins National Park stretches around the valley, with hiking routes, mountain streams and Alpine scenery. The Cheminées de Fées, unusual natural formations near Réotier, can be discovered on a walk in the surrounding area. Embrun, known for its cathedral and old town overlooking the Durance, is 9 km away. Montdauphin-Guillestre railway station, 6 km away, serves the valley by train. Queyras Regional Natural Park is another place to discover mountain villages and hiking routes.

In fine weather, you can spend the morning hiking in the area, then stop in a village or visit Embrun. Spring and summer are well suited to mountain outings, while autumn brings softer colours to the forests and hills. In winter, the region’s ski resorts attract snow lovers; a car makes it easier to travel between the valleys and trailheads. Markets in nearby towns also offer a chance to discover local produce and the pace of Alpine life.
