Les Restanques

The surrounding area alternates between hills, vineyards, orchards and natural areas; it appeals to travellers who enjoy walking, exploring country roads and visiting villages on a human scale.

The Porte de l’Orme recalls the village’s historic fortifications. Lacoste and Ménerbes, two characterful villages, have sloping lanes and views over the Luberon landscape. The Village des Bories features dry-stone buildings that bear witness to local rural architecture. The surrounding trails and paths are suitable for hiking and cycling. For longer journeys, Cavaillon is the nearest railway station listed, 16 km away; Marseille-Provence Airport is 45 km away. A car makes it easier to visit the region’s various villages and sights.

Spring and autumn are good seasons for walks and excursions, with temperatures generally milder than in the height of summer. In summer, days are hot and Provençal villages attract more visitors; it is best to set out early for a walk or spend the hottest hours resting in the shade. In late June and July, lavender fields colour several areas of the Luberon. You could spend a day visiting Goult, walking in the hills and stopping in a nearby village.
