Sous L'olivier

Sous L'olivier offers three one-bedroom apartments, each measuring 35 m² and accommodating two or three people. All have a kitchen, a private bathroom, air conditioning and a TV. The windows look out over the garden and mountains. The kitchens are equipped with a dishwasher, microwave, kettle, toaster and coffee machine; a high chair is also available.

The sleeping arrangements and bathrooms distinguish the different layouts. Two apartments accommodate three people with a double bed and a single bed; the third has a double bed for two guests. One of the apartments for two has a bath, while the other two have a shower. The third layout also has a separate living room. Each apartment offers an independent space to prepare meals and enjoy views of the garden.

The garden and outdoor furniture offer a place to get some fresh air after a day of sightseeing. The apartments have a private entrance, air conditioning and heating. Activities mentioned for getting around or enjoying the area include cycling, hiking, canoeing and horse riding. Water sports facilities are also available on site, and a golf course is less than three kilometres away. A children’s playground adds to the outdoor facilities.

Free private parking is available on site; street parking and an indoor car park are also offered. Wi-Fi is free throughout the guest house. Facilities include a shared kitchen and, in the apartments, an equipped kitchen with a dishwasher, microwave, kettle and toaster. An airport shuttle can be arranged. Pets are allowed, possibly for an additional charge. Yoga classes are also among the activities available.

Menton stretches between the Alps and the Mediterranean, on the Italian border. Its pastel-coloured façades, old lanes and subtropical gardens give the town a different feel from the neighbouring seaside resorts. The Garavan district, east of the centre, combines hillside homes, green spaces and access to the coast. It suits travellers who want to alternate between swimming, walks and heritage visits without giving up going out in town.

Rondelli Beach and the beaches in the area offer opportunities to enjoy the sea, while the Val Rahmeh Botanical Garden brings together plants from a range of climates in a leafy setting. Fontana Rosa, known for its ceramic decorations and Spanish inspiration, offers another stop among Menton’s gardens. As you head up towards the old town, the Basilica of Saint Michael the Archangel overlooks the rooftops and steps of the historic centre. Menton-Garavan railway station serves the area, while Menton’s main railway station connects the town with other stops along the Riviera. Monaco and the Italian border are also suitable for excursions.

Spring and autumn are pleasant times to explore the lanes and visit the gardens, with milder temperatures than in the height of summer. In February, the Lemon Festival brings the town to life with monumental citrus displays and parades; it’s best to plan ahead for getting around the centre at this time. On hot days, you can spend the morning in the old town, then set aside the afternoon for the beach or a shaded walk in Val Rahmeh. The hill paths also let you take in the views from higher up and look out over the coast.
