VTF Les Balcons du Sauze

VTF Les Balcons du Sauze offers two 12 m² room categories, both with a private bathroom, shower, wardrobe or clothes rack and mountain views. The Double or Twin Room can be prepared with either two single beds or one double bed. The Family Room, intended for one adult and one child, has two single beds. Both categories share a functional feel, with heating, bed linen and towels. They overlook the mountains around Le Sauze, a view you can return to after a day of skiing or hiking. Interconnecting rooms are available, a practical option for bringing relatives together while keeping separate spaces. The facilities are simple and suited to mountain stays, with a shower room and a toilet in each room.

The main difference is the occupancy and bed configuration: the first room is suitable for couples or travellers who want to choose their bed arrangement, while the second is intended for one adult with a child. Both have the same floor area and the same view.

VTF Les Balcons du Sauze brings together several facilities for days in the mountains: ski-to-door access, ski storage, a tennis court and a seasonal heated outdoor swimming pool. The sauna offers a way to unwind after an outing. Communal areas include a terrace, a shared lounge and luggage storage. Free private parking is available on site; free Wi-Fi is available in the communal areas.

The restaurant and bar are complemented by a continental or buffet breakfast. Packed lunches are available, and the hotel organises evening entertainment. Families can use the children’s club, which is offered during certain school holiday periods. Reception welcomes guests from 08:00 to 14:00 and then from 17:00 to 20:00; check-in is between 17:00 and 20:00. For outdoor activities, facilities also include dedicated ski areas, while the surrounding area is well suited to hiking and cycling.

Le Sauze is a mountain resort in the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence, in the Ubaye Valley, above Barcelonnette. Its landscape combines forests, alpine pastures and peaks, with a village centred around outdoor activities. The atmosphere changes with the seasons: the slopes attract skiers in winter, while the paths and mountain roads invite you to go walking or cycling when the weather warms up. The neighbouring hamlets and villages in the valley also offer a chance to discover a less urban Alpine region.

The local ski lifts, including the Clots cable car, are near the hotel; the ski area is suited to days on the slopes and walks at altitude. In Barcelonnette, the Barcelonnette Museum explores local history and the valley’s links with Mexico. Parc de la Sapinière offers a place to stroll in town. Badieux Waterfall is another option for an outing in the surrounding area. A bus station is at Place Aimé Gassier in Barcelonnette, providing access to services in the valley. The hotel’s private parking is useful if you are exploring the area by car.

In winter, bring clothing suited to Alpine temperatures and check slope conditions before setting out. Summer is better suited to hiking, cycling and breaks by the water, particularly at Plan d’eau de Siguret. You could start the day with activities at the resort, then head to Barcelonnette to visit the museum and stroll around town. In spring and autumn, the mountain scenery takes on a different feel, with routes to choose according to the weather and altitude.
