Visitors interested in architecture and regional history will find plenty to explore on foot over a day.

The Château du Roi René overlooks the town centre and traces Tarascon’s medieval history. Sainte-Marthe Church and the townhouses in the neighbourhood add to the walk, while the Souleïado Textile Museum showcases a Provençal textile tradition. Tarascon railway station is 500 m away and makes train journeys convenient. Arles, known for its Roman amphitheatre and ancient monuments, is 14 km away. Nîmes-Alès-Camargue-Cévennes Airport is 19 km away; a car is useful for exploring the surrounding villages and landscapes.

For a day without a car, spend the morning exploring the old town’s lanes and the château, then stop at the Jardin des Plantes.
