The town is known for its twelve sandy beaches, which range from family-friendly areas and small coves to long stretches open to the sea. Visitors can combine days at the beach with coastal walks and stops in the village.

Le Lavandou harbour has ferry connections to the Îles d’Or, including Port-Cros, whose national park protects its landscapes both on land and underwater. The beaches in the centre and in Saint-Clair offer spots for swimming, while coastal paths follow the shoreline and lead to coves. Fort de Brégançon, the official summer residence of the French presidents, can be visited in the Bormes-les-Mimosas area. The bus station and ferry terminals make local travel easier; a car is useful for exploring villages and beaches further afield.

In summer, the sea and water sports set the pace, but visitor numbers increase during school holidays. Spring and September often offer a quieter atmosphere for walking the trails or cycling along the coast. A day might begin with a swim at one of the village beaches, continue with a boat trip to Port-Cros and end with a stroll around the harbour. In winter, the mild Mediterranean climate is well suited to walks, although beach activities are less of a focus.
